Initially created on October 9th, 2025, Melo is my Pokemon roleplay character who I started using in December the same year. He is a student at Uva Academy, with the world being based off Scarlet and Violet's Paldea region with a couple of creative differences when needed. He's a very dear character to me, so I hope you can enjoy reading about him! He's just no good!!

☆ ABBI (Shuppet) - Naughty Nature, Impetuous and Silly
Caught in Fallarbor Town. Attracted to Melo's unpleasant and vindictive emotions, she began following him around. Melo caught her in the hope of making her follow orders. This doesn't work very well, and she tends to escape from her Pokeball at the worst of times. Embarrassing him is her favourite thing. Melo doesn't particularly like her, but she wouldn't want it any other way.

☆ GOMIE (Ralts) - Timid Nature, Alert to Sounds
Caught in Paldea. Melo's first attempt at catching a Pokemon to use in Contests. Being the Feeling Pokemon, Ralts tends to pick up on the awful vibes between Melo and those around him, and becomes too upset to act. Having seen Iron Valiant in a book, he'd like Ralts to figure out some way to achieve this evolution. Will Ralts ever get to evolve?? We'll just have to wait and see!

☆ MURPHY (Kecleon) - Calm Nature, Likes to Relax
Caught by a researcher at the Mossdeep City Space Center. Kecleon was gifted to Melo by his dad, who believed he might have an interest in Pokemon after seeing his Shuppet. Kecleon has a carefree attitude, and tends to relax with his tongue out. Melo finds Kecleon a bit yucky, but warms up to him after realising he's surprisingly powerful in battle without really trying to be.

☆ SADA (Espathra) - Rash Nature, Hates to Lose
Caught in Paldea as a Flittle, alongside Bergamot's Flittle. She develops a similar personality to Melo, and ends up as one of his favourite Pokemon. Despite the favouritism, she blames Melo for any of their losses and failures, which quickly results in him being attacked and pecked on the head to no end. She equally enjoys participating in Contests and Battles.

☆ ROCKY (Mabosstiff) - Relaxed Nature, Often Dozes Off
Caught in Paldea as a Maschiff. While looking for Pokemon that might do well in Contests, Melo convinced himself that Maschiff's ugly face was a red herring, and with some work his evolution would become beautiful. This was absolutely not the case, but he finds it hard to hate Mabosstiff for some reason. Deep down, he feels like they have something in common. They generally get along well.

Another gifted Pokemon from Melo's dad. He doesn't like how its shape reminds him of Shuppet, and he decidedly keeps it in the PC box.

☆ HOME LOCATIONS ☆ ☆ FALLARBOR TOWN:
Melo lived here for the majority of his life, up in the north of Hoenn.
A version based more on the game's portrayal of a small farming community than an actual town. Numerous scientists have made it their home, and there aren't any other children Melo's age. As a result, he's given a lot of books to read, and receives some homeschooling from one of his mom's colleages. He finds it terribly boring, and has little interest in Pokemon due to the abundance of Spinda.

☆ SLATEPORT CITY:
Melo moved here with his mom for a little under a year.
They regularly take boats to Mossdeep City and travel between the two locations frequently. Due to all the moving around, he found it difficult to settle in despite there being more to do than in his hometown.

☆ MESAGOZA:
Current location. Melo's mom eventually gets a job conducting research around the Great Crater in Paldea. Rather than live with his dad in Mossdeep City, he asks to move here, having seen Uva Academy on a TV programme. Melo likes to see this as the start of his real life.

☆ TELEVISION, SAY YOU LOVE ME ☆ ☆ Having spent the majority of his time alone growing up, he was given a lot of books to read. He finds academic subjects boring, but is naturally good at them. He just doesn't put in the effort. His best subjects are maths and physics.

☆ He isn't too interested in the surrounding Areas either. His grudge keeps him away from the research sites, and his only other option for outdoor playing is Route 113. He finds it dull and depressing, with memories of volcanic ash accompanied by visions of watching wild Spinda wobble around for hours.

☆ And so, Melo's most beloved hobby is watching television; as is popular in Hoenn. With an innate yearning to connect with people, he enjoys watching reality TV, interviews, and women's daytime talk shows. His social skills are bad, but he sure knows a lot about the menopause. Plus, Melo always knows the trendy phrase!

☆ Alongside this, Melo used a lot of time just using his imagination to fill the empty void. He has a lot of energy and likes playing pretend, but is fully capable of staring at a wall and going through an entire fantasy scenario in his head. The older he gets, the more bored he becomes, the more negative many of his thoughts turn out. His partner Pokemon, Shuppet, appears around this time.

☆ MY PARENTS ARE ALIENS! ☆ ☆ Both of Melo's parents work for the Mossdeep City Space Center in Hoenn.
His dad is a leading scientist, who overlooks the development of space travel and rocket launches. He lives on-site in Mossdeep City, and tends to come home during holiday periods.
☆ Meanwhile, his mom is a remote researcher, looking into the abundance of meteorites around Route 114/115. Eventually, traces of unknown bacteria were discovered in a crater. Later on, she briefly works in collaboration with the Slateport City Oceanic Museum, and then as part of a research team in Paldea.
☆ His parents believe in the fringe theory that all human life originated in outer space, and that humans are in fact some kind of alien. They are both workaholics, and dedicated to proving their beliefs.

☆ The household topic tends to be the same thing: Aliens.
Despite an initial desire to start a family, the rapid development in their research meant their focus remained on work. Despite this, Melo's parents do believe he's treated well. They tend to bring him on work trips and buy him anything he might ask for.

☆ Meanwhile, for as long as he can recall, Melo has a deep resentment towards the concept of aliens, and the idea that all humans might be aliens themselves. He doesn't want to be an alien! Despite his disposition, he tends to go along with the things his parents say while getting lost in his big imagination.

☆ I LOVE CONTESTS! ☆ ☆ After seeing famous coordinator, Lisia, on TV, Melo decides that being a contest champion would make him so popular that he'd never be bored again. This is where he begins to develop a mental idea of the type of person he wants to be.

☆ Despite the disingenuous origins, he ends up developing a real interest in Pokemon Contests. He's just no good, but he really enjoys making his Pokemon look nice; learning to make his own costumes; and dressing up. Let's all wish him good luck (or not!)

☆ I'M SO CUTE AND WELL-ADJUSTED! ☆ ☆ Melo's main ambition other than becoming a super-famous Pokemon Coordinator is to make a lot of friends.

☆ He tries to put on a fake personality to appeal to others, but fails disastrously at keeping it up. He tends to blame his Shuppet for exposing him, but he usually ruins peoples impressions of him on his own. Despite his play-pretend big ego, he's severely sensitive to criticism and has trouble regulating negative emotions once he actually starts feeling them.

☆ His super-best-friend, Bergamot, is the only person he feels like he can be himself around. This is probably not a good thing for anyone involved, and still includes a whole lot of needless lying from the lying liar that lies a lot.

☆ ASSORTED MELON TRIVIA! ☆ ☆ He tends to sleep for a couple of hours every night until he passes out for a long time after a week or two of sleep deprivation.
☆ Doesn't like using communal washers and cleans his clothes in the kitchen sink.
☆ Lives off microwave meals, snacks and energy drinks. +Tea from Bergamot.
☆ Was once hospitalised for eating volcanic ash.
☆ Has an extremely weak stomach and motion sickness; throws up easily.
☆ Lactose intolerant. He doesn't know this.
☆ Has three contacts in his phone, "Mom" "Dad" and "Bergie".
☆ His typing style is extremely dry. Says "OK." a lot.
☆ He tried copying the hairstyle of someone he saw on TV. His mom offhandedly suggested he should get a haircut, so he's silently committed to never changing it for the rest of his life (as if it was a big deal — she never actually mentioned it again)
☆ If he was a Pokemon, he'd be a Skitty.
☆ Gets cold easily; he tends to wear a lot of layers.
